On-farm tests

On-site assessment and improvements

Performance of on-farm tests to develop products, and objective tests to determine the performance of existing equipment and facilities in order to improve their capabilities. All performance tests are carried out under “real” on-farm working conditions in a rigorous and transparent manner. Measurements and reports are produced to explain the differences between real and theoretical performance, both in natural and forced ventilation systems.

In facilities with forced ventilation, we have evaluated the operation and production/health benefits of a heating system under commercial production conditions. We have also checked the consumption of fans under working conditions on the farm compared with theoretical conditions.

In facilities with natural ventilation, we have designed efficient systems to deliver passive ventilation and improve pig comfort under diverse climatic conditions (winter, spring and summer). We have also checked and compared ridge versus chimney ventilation systems under the same environmental conditions.
